DJ Christof is a Belgium-born, Mixcloud #1-charted DJ & Producer, currently based in Shanghai. He caught the virus of dance music, after having been introduced in the late eighties to Belgian New Beat, which was taking European dance floors by storm. His dance music influences were shaped initially by legendary Belgian clubs such as Le Délire and its successor La Démence, Boccaccio, 55, FUSE and Café d'Anvers, and followed by the accumulation of a large dance music collection.  

 

In 2002, after relocating to HK, DJ Ricky Yaneza from Propaganda, who had heard him play, took him under his wing and mentored him in all the traditional aspects of DJing. DJ Christof soon started experimenting with samplers and digital controllers to layer sounds during his sets. Choosing to embrace rather than dismiss all the possibilities offered by new music technologies, he became the first professional digital DJ in Hong Kong. This also kindled his interest in music production, and when not travelling he loves to spend time in the studio, often working together with likeminded DJs. Several new productions are in the works for early 2017.

 

Today, DJ Christof's signature music consists mostly of a deep tribal & progressive sound, with house and sometimes trance influences, taking partygoers on an emotional journey. It gravitates towards an underground vibe complemented with uplifting vocal tracks and pop influences. 

 

In November 2015, DJ Christof’s HOWL Halloween set reached # 1 spot on the Mixcloud Global Tribal House Chart, and several other of his recent sets were charted in the top 10.

Venues & Parties:

DJ Christof has played at a range of well-known gay and mixed clubs in Hong Kong: Propaganda, VolumeBEAT, Drop, KEE Club, JJ’s (Grand Hyatt), Club Nu, Linq, Jewl, Alibi, Homebase, Club Bliss, M-Bar, U-Turn…

as well as international gay venues such as Taboo in Singapore, Club Jump in Taipei, Q-Bar in Bali Indonesia, etc...  

 

Main party DJ for two consecutive years at Hong Kong's annual gay Floatilla - each attended by ca.1000 people - making a return appearance in October 2016 on the boat hosted by Mass Luciano (Mr. Gay World 2015), and played at parties organised by well-known HK gay circuit party organisers HX Production and Cocktails.

 

In Phuket (Thailand), DJ Christof played alongside Danny Rampling, who is widely credited as one of the original founders of the UK Club / House Music scene.

DJ Christof was a founding member of HK Trance DJ Groups TranceDesire & WhosJacs which organised a number of well-attended trance events in 2005-2008.

 

Commercial Events: 

DJ Christof has played the Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) Mandarin Oriental’s exclusive NYE '05 & '06 parties for over 1000 guests, party at Chedi (Chiang Mai, Thailand) as well as corporate events such as the opening party of the Harvey Nichols store in the presence of Hong Kong's Chief Executive, Trussardi Fashion shows in Shenzhen (China), event for Oscar de la Renta in HK, exclusive party with fashion show at the HK Lee Gardens, Launch of John Ferdinand jewellery and fashion accessory brand, special event at Sole Town HK.
